Build Joy was founded as a result of a deeply personal experience that many families of children with pediatric cancer face.

 

In an instant, a cancer diagnosis can turn the life of a child upside down. But cancer doesn’t only impact that child. It can impact siblings, parents, other family members and the community. 

 

When a child experiences cancer, it has an impact way beyond physical. It results in uncertainty, a loss of control, disruption of routine, and leaves questions unanswered. 

 

We have seen the impact that a creative outlet like building LEGO sets can have on these young lives. During hospital stays, clinic visits, and time at home, these toys provide a therapeutic outlet that can contribute to motor skill development, a sense of accomplishment, ability to collaborate with others, and above all else, some moments of joy. 

 

Build Joy was started in 2026 to be able to send gifts not only to the children battling cancer but also to their siblings who were impacted as well. We believe these small bricks can have a large impact, be a welcome distraction, create a shared family activity, and build joy in their lives.
